Riding the airwaves for a good cause

For the past year, Sean Power has been giving up his Sunday mornings to volunteer for Vision Australia Radio, hosting a youth-run program. Katharina Hackler chats to him about his work and love for radio.

Sean Power is one of the youngest volunteers working for Vision Australia Radio.  He’s one of many others working at the Kooyong office in Melbourne, volunteering to put together radio programming for the blind, vision impaired or people who are so called ‘eyes-busy’.

He’s also a first year Bachelor of Media Studies student at La Trobe Univeristy, and has future dreams of landing a job in radio.

Katharina Hackler talks to Sean about his volunteering work for Vision Australia Radio, where he is part of the youth radio show ‘Don’t Hold Back’, his love for radio and the station’s mission.

‘Don’t Hold Back’ airs every Thursday evening at 8.30 and is geared towards the 18 to 30 year-old demographic.  To find out to tune into the program, click here.

Katharina Hackler is an international student from Germany, studying her Master of Global Communications at La Trobe University. She is part of upstart’s editorial team and her biggest passion is radio.
