What’s Next for Journalism?

La Trobe University is hosting a panel of journalism experts discussing the future of the industry today.

‘What’s Next for Journalism?’ is an event being held by La Trobe University this afternoon.

La Trobe journalism Associate Professor Lawrie Zion, Deputy Managing Editor at The Conversation Helen Westerman, former editor of Crikey and ABC Radio National presenter Jonathan Green, and The University of Sydney senior lecturer in Convergent and Online Media Dr Fiona Martin will explore the potential for new avenues in the industry.

“The reinvigoration of journalism allows for the innovation of entirely new publications produced through platforms not imagined at the end of the 20th century,” Associate Professor Zion said.

“But behind all of this comes the question – what is a journalist these days?”

The panel will discuss and give insight into the future direction of the journalism industry and what it means for graduates.

The event commences at 12:30pm and concludes at 2:00pm. All welcome.

Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar will chair the event.

You can follow the event on Twitter via #ideasandsociety or through a La Trobe Webcast.
