The YMCA Victoria Youth Parliament encourages Victorians between the ages of 16 and 25 to speak up at the highest levels of state government.
The Press Gallery Program focuses on improving public speaking, leadership roles and co-operation with team members.
The program offers emerging journalists the opportunity to produce stories in the Youth Parliament press gallery, as well as update the website, speak on the radio and write for publications across Victoria. Each participant will be placed into a portfolio area of interest within the press gallery.
A news room created last year also gives prospective journalists hands-on experience in a fast-paced media environment, with help from experienced political journalists.
To participate in this year’s event, applicants must have a passion for journalism and a willingness to co-operate in a team setting.
