Australia Decides 2013: Episode Four

Former Julia Gillard staffer Nicholas Reece joins Matt Smith and Professor Nick Bisley in this episode.

Are we there yet? We’re almost there!

This the fourth episode of our election podcast, hosted by Matt Smith with guests Professor Nick Bisley from La Trobe University and Nicholas Reece, a former staffer of PM Julia Gillard, now at the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Melbourne.

Issues covered in the podcast are:

– Is Tony Abbott’s approach of buying back boats from Indonesian fishermen effective in stopping people smuggling?
– Where should the navel base be? Kept in Sydney or sent to Queensland?
– What questions should have been asked in the third debate?
– What should the candidates be doing in the final week of the election campaign?

You can follow Nick Bisley, Nicholas Reece and Matt Smith on Twitter. Many thanks to Julia Scott for announcing duties, and some behind the scenes production from CTLC’s man behind the curtain Simon Knight.

Our final pre-election podcast will be recorded on 5th September in the CTLC studios (Education 2, Level 1) at 11am. All are welcome! Joining Matt Smith and Nick Bisley will be Gwenda Taven from the Politics Program at La Trobe University. You can subscribe to this podcast series here on iTunes U.
