Applicants should have a good grasp of spelling and grammar, a keen interest in news and current affairs and a talent for writing.

A sound knowledge of all aspects of journalism is required and experience reporting for a regional newspaper is considered an advantage.

The successful applicant will travel around the region to cover local news and current affairs for the tri-weekly publication.

The award-winning regional newspaper covers stories in Portland itself, as well as Heywood, Narrawong, Tyrendarra, Hamilton, Dartmoor, Mount Gambier, Warrnambool and Port Fairy.

The successful applicant will be given a six-month trial period.

A driver’s licence is essential.
