Entries are now open for the South East Regional Media Awards (SERMA), which recognise excellence in regional journalism on Australia’s eastern seaboard.
The annual program is hosted by the Media Alliance and celebrates the year’s achievements in journalism.
Stretching from the south of the Hawkesbury River in NSW, the Australian Capital Territory, and all of regional Victoria, the regional awards support and encourage professional and ethical reporting.
Regional journalists work under constant pressure with minimal resources, serving a community that expects the same standard of quality journalism as well as a well-resourced metropolitan newsroom. Despite these pressures, regional and rural journalists keep producing excellent work and SERMA looks forward to celebrating some of the remarkable achievements in regional journalism from the past year.
The 2011 awards presentation will be held at the La Trobe University campus in Albury-Wodonga on Saturday 9 July 2011.
Entrants must have had their work broadcast or published in a regional outlet to be eligible to enter.
Entries close on Friday 10 June and you can download the entry form here.
