New York City’s Tape Festival has partnered up with found sound podcast Random Tape and KCRW’s Independent Producer Project to offer the competition to audio storytellers around the world.

There are no set format or content requirements for audio entries. They should not have been broadcast to a major audience and, as a guide, should range between 30 seconds and three minutes in length.

The winner will receive A$1,250 (US$1,000), a license for REAPER editing software and a free pass to Tape Fest.

The successful entrant will have to organise travel to New York at their own expense, should they choose to attend.

The possibility of winning a spot on KCRW’s storytelling program UnFictional or Random Tape is also up for grabs.

All entries require a $10 entry fee and a completed Tape Festival entry form.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 30 June at 11.59 pm EST.
