Asia Society Online is offering three journalism students the chance to gain some valuable experience and intern at its New York office.
There are three internships available in online reporting; multimedia production; and basic site maintenance and administration. School credit is available for all three positions.
The Asia Society institution seeks to forge closer ties between Asia and the United States, and has offices in Hong Kong, Houston, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Mumbai, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Shanghai, and Washington, DC..
A brief description of the positions include:
Online reporting intern
Applicants should ideally be a web-literate journalism student with an interest in and connection to Asia. The successful candidate will be expected to work at least 20 hours per week, for nine to twelve weeks, and will receive a one-time honorarium of US$750.
Online multimedia intern
Applicants must be competent in Final Cut Pro, iMovie and Photoshop, and they should be confident with video and audio editing. Applicants who possess an understanding of social media; have some experience in news writing/reporting; and have strong web skills (HTML and CMS) will also be prefered. The successful candidate will be required to work 24 hours per week, for about nine to twelve weeks, but days are flexible. He or she will also receive a one-time honorarium of US$750.
Online website intern
Applicants must be reliable, internet savvy and detail-oriented. They need to be able to help with a number of tasks including maintenance and production of a high-traffic website. Hours are flexible for the successful candidate but two or three days a week would be ideal. This is an unpaid internship.
