The winner will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship and practical experience at Rural Press and the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree relevant to rural affairs.
They should submit a feature article of up to 1,200 words on one of the following topics:
- How should farmers mitigate against the drought?
- How should we make Canberra politicians more involved in rural and regional policies?
- Is agriculture secure, through quarantine, of imported pests and diseases?
Applicants should also submit a news article or blog post relating to Australian agriculture of up to 600 words.
Articles must be original and not previously published.
