The Sydney Morning Herald Photos1440 Challenge offers a chance to experience life as a photojournalist.

Registered entrants will be given a Photographic Assignment Brief which they have up to five weeks to complete. The earlier entrants register, the longer they have to work on their winning photo essay. The brief will be open to interpretation and will be judged on originality, composition, photographic technique and the entrant’s ability to tell a story through their photos. Each entrant may submit a minimum of four, to a maximum of seven images for the assignment. Please note this assignment will be judged as a photo essay.

Prizes include an internship working with The Sydney Morning Herald photo department and a Canon EOS 5D Mark III Pro Kit (with EF24-70mm f/2.8L II lens). The winning entrants from each category will be displayed as part of The Sydney Morning Herald exhibition – Photos1440, Capturing the minutes of the day.

For more information on the challenge and prizes, visit the Photos1440 Challenge website.

Registration closes June 16th 2013.
