Queensland has signed a deal with the Albanese government to fully fund public schools by 2032.
The Better and Fairer Schools agreement will see the Commonwealth provide schools in Queensland with an additional five per cent of the Schooling Resource Standard (SRS).
This will see a lift in the Commonwealth’s contribution from 20 percent to 25 percent of the SRS by 2032.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that this agreement is about the future of Australian children.
“This is about investing in real reform with real funding – so Australian children get the best possible education,” he said.
An estimated $2.8 billion of additional funding from the Commonwealth will go to public schools over the next 10 years.
“We’re proud to have secured the biggest funding boost ever delivered to Queensland state schools,” Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said.
The signing of this agreement means, more help for students and more support for teachers.
