The Age is offering editorial traineeships to emerging journalists interested in photography, sport and news.
Budding photographers should have a good sense for news, know their way around current DSLR camera technologies, Photoshop and Final Cut Pro and be comfortable working with both still and video images — along with a folio of work.
If you’re an all-rounder, able to write clear, concise copy about both Australian football and international sport, then there’s also a sport traineeship up for grabs.
General news junkies haven’t been overlooked. You must be able to work in a team, have strong research skills, an ability to write clearly and concisely, and an excellent knowledge of current affairs.
All traineeships are 12 months contracts and include an induction course and combine on-the-job and classroom training throughout the year. Successful candidates will be offered full-time graded positions after 12 months. All traineeships are full-time and paid according to the MEAA journalism award.
