The Listening Lab

La Trobe University's John Tebbutt will contribute to Radio National's 'The Night Air' on Sunday night, with his project 'The Listening Lab'.

La Trobe University Media Studies lecturer Dr John Tebbutt will have his project, The Listening Lab, broadcast on Radio National’s The Night Air this weekend.

The radio project is part of Dr Tebbutt’s contribution to The Listening Project — a program of research collaboration that has brought together Australian cultural and media scholars, practitioners and activists.

Initially, it had a life on Pool, the ABC social networking website, but this week it takes off as a fully-fledged broadcast.

The research conducted for the project includes work done for a creative thesis from Media Honours graduate Marian Blythe, and her audio production thesis will take up the first half-hour of the time slot (8.30-9pm). After 9 o’clock, Dr Tebbutt’s contribution continues the broadcast, which also includes radio student Olivia Kaleta with a piece on the hearing disorder tinnitus that she completed for her final year radio subject.

‘The Listening Lab’ will air on Sunday 17 April, 8.30-10pm.  To find Radio National‘s frequency in your area, click here.
