The US pauses higher tariffs for all countries, except China

The US stock market has reacted with a historic rebound to Trump administration giving a 90-day delay on high tariffs for most countries.

US President Donald Trump has implemented a 90-day delay in raising tariffs for most of the countries he previously called “worst offenders” for their trade practices.

The US stock market has already reacted with its biggest rise in one day since 2008. The S&P 500 closed the day with a 9.5 percent rise, while the Dow Jones surged 7.8 percent.

Trump wrote on Truth Social the other 75 countries have called representatives of the US to negotiate.

“At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable,” he said.

This Tuesday, local time, China responded by raising tariffs from 34 percent to 84 percent for the US, effective this Thursday. The US then raised tariffs again exclusively on China, now increased to 125 percent.
