The Western Region Football League (WRFL) is currently taking applications for contributors to the their various media platforms in 2016.

Budding writers, photographers, videographers, and social media aficionados are encouraged to apply.

Covering the western suburbs’ premier sporting competition, successful candidates will be able to utilise the skills from their journalism/media degree to begin building a portfolio of published work.

The role will provide an opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience by interviewing coaches and players each week, as well as generating new story ideas throughout the season.

Writers will be required to generate reports for the official WRFL Game Day Record, which includes previews and wraps of the three senior divisions as well as the under-18 competition, news stories and feature articles throughout the year, with each story also featuring online to an audience of thousands. There will also be opportunities to contribute to live social media coverage during the games.

Photographers are needed for match-days to take photos of both the WRFL’s senior and junior competitions on weekends, as well as visual contributions to the League’s social media.

Please note, all positions are voluntary, and based in Melbourne.

If you would like to get involved, please contact The WRFL’s media and communications manager Kristen Alebakis via email at k.alebakis@wrfl.asn.au or by calling (03) 9315 5400 by 12/02/16.

Please send a brief summary of your experience and copies of your previous work.
