Two charged after fatal shooting of 9-year-old boy

The two are expected to appear in court later this week.

A man and teenager have been charged over the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old boy in rural NSW.

The 33-year-old man was charged with allowing an unauthorised person to possess a firearm and not storing the weapon safely. He will appear before Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 14 May.

The 14-year-old was charged with possession of an unauthorised firearm and was granted conditional bail. He is expected to appear before a children’s court on Friday 16 May.

The 9-year-old boy was shot in the neck on a property just outside of Windellama after the accidental discharge of the firearm.

Emergency services were called to the property at around 11:20 am on Sunday. NSW ambulance paramedics treated him for severe neck injuries, but he died on the scene.

The man and teen were arrested and processed at Goulburn Police Station.
