If you are looking to build up your journalism portfolio, there is a great opportunity to do so with Youth Central.

The Victorian government website is searching for young Victorians between the ages of 16 and 25 to contribute articles and interviews for publication.

Youth Central is a website aimed at young people, where contributors are free to write about any topic that interests them. Contributors must first submit a story idea for approval and, once they receive the go-ahead, they can begin to write the article for publication on the site.

Contributors who are published on the site are paid for each article as part of the Guest Reporter program.

Guest Reporters who have two articles published are then given the opportunity to join the Youth Central Roving Reporter team. Those who are part of the Roving Reporter team get the chance to cover events and develop story ideas whilst receiving editorial guidance and mentoring.

The Roving Reporter program provides young people with the tools to cover a range of media platforms, with past graduates going on to careers in social media, radio and print.

For more information about the program or to send in story ideas visit the Youth Central website.
