Carlton Football Club’s coach Michael Voss has resigned after five years at the club, which will take effect immediately.

According to AFL.com.au, Voss handed in his resignation over the weekend after Carlton’s loss to the Brisbane Lions on Friday night.

The resignation was a mutual decision between Voss, Carlton’s CEO Graham Wright and General Manager Chris Davies after several weeks of discussions.

Carlton’s Performance and Culture Manager Travis Boak commented on the matter as he arrived at Ikon Park this morning.

“[Voss] loves this club and he’s done a lot for this club. It’s a sad situation but footy’s a brutal business,” he said.

Voss leaves the club with the Blues currently sitting at 16th on the ladder and a 1-8 start to the season.

Assistant Coach Josh Fraser will take over from Voss as interim coach.
