According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the war in 2023.
The death tolls rose last week after Israel resumed airstrikes and ground attacks killing over 700 people and injuring over 1,000.
ABC has reported that out of the 700 who died over 200 of them were children.
Al Jazeera’s reporter Hani Mahmoud said the death toll is a “very grim, horrifying milestone.”
Mahmoud said that this is only an estimated figure of how many of the people who died were children.
“Of the more than 50,000 killed, 17,000 are children. A whole generation has been wiped out,” he said.
This comes after the death toll slowed for two months during the ceasefire.
