Five Swans players banned from 2026 AFL season

The Sydney Swans have suspended James Jordon, Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Riley Bice and Nick Blakey for the remainder of the 2026 season.

The Sydney Swans have suspended James Jordon, Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Riley Bice and Nick Blakey for the remainder of the 2026 season.

The Swans have released a statement saying that the AFL is supportive of this decision.

An earlier  statement said the sanctions are “independent” of an ongoing investigation. Players are assisting with enquiries into an alleged incident at the Pullman Hotel on Monday morning, where the team stayed after their match against Essendon. This publication is not suggesting that the players are being investigated, only that they are assisting with enquiries.

Addressing the imposed sanctions, the statement said the club “believes the players are in serious breach of expected club behaviour and standards”.

According to Fox Sports, none of the sanctioned players have been sighted at the club this morning.

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon released a statement on Tuesday night, speaking about how this incident raises broader issues “for our game and our responsibilities as a sport”.

“Our first question should not be what this means for a football club. It should be whether our actions match the standards we stand for and the community expects of us,” he said.

Swans coach Dean Cox has told media that the club will make another statement today.

The Swans will face North Melbourne this week.
