Labor’s great gamble

Rising societal pressure finally forced the government into action over sports betting, banning it during live broadcasts, reports Kathleen O'Connor.

Since 2010, the Labor government has continued to cut $250 million to the cost of doing business for television networks. But according to an article in The Age, Communications Minister Steven Conroy says “the industry can’t afford to loose the advertising dollar of betting companies.” Is this a risk with no chance at reward?
