Lachlan Galvin set to be dropped by Wests Tigers

The young star recently turned down the "largest offer for a junior in the history of the club".

Wests Tigers five-eighth Lachlan Galvin will reportedly be dropped from the first team after recently declining a new multi-million-dollar contract extension.

The Tigers put forward a reported offer of $5.5 million over six years to the 19-year-old, but on Monday the club confirmed Galvin had declined the offer.

Wests play the last-placed Parramatta Eels on Easter Monday, and reports suggest that coach Benji Marshall will leave Galvin out of the side when the squads are announced on Tuesday evening. A rift between Galvin and Benji Marshall has been reported as the main reason the young star declined the contract.

Utility Adam Doueihi is set to take Galvin’s place in their upcoming game. Doueihi will play alongside former Panther Jarome Luai, who won three premierships with the Penrith Panthers before joining the Tigers this season.

Galvin has played 27 games for the Tigers, who have finished last in the NRL for the past three seasons.

The five-eighth won’t be at the Tigers in 2026 but the question as to who he will play for next remains unanswered.
