Man evades police after alleged kidnapping

Stanley Turvey is believed to be in NSW.

Shepparton police have issued an arrest warrant for a man after he was allegedly involved in a kidnapping on Monday.

Police said Stanley Turvey fired a gunshot during an attempted arrest and evaded police before the kidnapping.

Turvey is believed to still be on the run in NSW. The public has been warned that the man, who has tattoos on his face and body, is armed and should not be approached.

Police attempted to arrest Turvey at a Katandra West property in northern Victoria as part of an ongoing investigation. He then allegedly approached police with a firearm.

“Turvey was challenged by police to drop the weapon when he fired a shot into the air before fleeing the scene in a vehicle,” Victoria Police said.

Authorities pursued Turvey before they rolled their vehicle on Creighton Road. Two officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries but were later released.

Turvey is said to have then stopped at a random residence in Youanmite, forcing a man at gunpoint to drive him for almost an hour to Finley, NSW. He later released the man uninjured.

Police say anyone who sees Turvey should call 000 immediately.
