Mel C to spice up Melbourne Cup music festival

It will be her first performance in Australia in 25 years.

Spice Girls singer Mel C is set to perform in Australia for the first time in 25 years after announcing that she will be a headline act this Spring Racing Carnival.

Popularly known as Sporty Spice, the 49-year-old will perform a DJ set at TAB Champion Stakes Day on 5 November. It will mark her first performance in the country since the Spice Girls toured Australia in 1998.

The popstar said that she is excited to perform during a significant week for Australian horse racing.

‘It’s so good to be coming back to Australia – the atmosphere is electric, and I could not be happier to return after more than two decades,” she said.

“I’ve always been a big fan of racing and obviously love a music festival so to mix the two and perform at such an iconic Australian event is so exciting. It’s going to be an epic day and I can’t wait!”

Performing at the inaugural Palooza music festival, the event will run over the four days of the Spring Racing Carnival this November and will feature headline DJs and artists each day.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rosich is glad to have Chisholm on board for the event.

“Palooza will deliver the ultimate festival experience and we couldn’t think of a better headline act on TAB Champions Stakes Day than Melanie C. She’s an all-star and we look forward to welcoming her to Flemington,” he said.

Tickets for the event start from $295 for the day and are as expensive as $595.
