Russia has hit Kyiv with missile and drone strikes, killing at least 17 people and injuring 44 more on Wednesday.  

The Russian military sent down 115 drones of which 98 were intercepted by Ukrainian air forces however the Ukrainian military were unable to intercept any of 24 ballistic missiles heading for the region. 

The drones hit highly populated areas including one of the city’s train stations, warehouse facilities and a local brewing company. 

“These facilities had nothing to do with war,” President Zelenskyy wrote on X. 

In recent months, Ukraine has asked close allies for more interceptors and ammunition to help safeguard the country.

“Ballistic interceptors are what could have save the lives of the dead today. Zelenskyy wrote on X. It’s crucial that partners are aware that delays in their supply or inability to transmit antiballics are leading to such horrible causalities.”

Ukraine’s emergency services have already begun recovery efforts.
