Editor-in-chief for The Atlantic Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally added to a group chat by Trump’s national security team disclosing sensitive military plans.
The group chat on messaging app Signal was made up of various officials including Vice President JD Vance, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Messages consisted of information about a military operation against Yemen’s Houthi rebel group.
The magazine editor revealed he was added to the group chat on March 13, with the US attack on Houthi then occurring on March 15.
Goldberg expressed his disbelief that the national security advisor of Trump would be “so reckless” to include him in the group chat.
“I could not believe that the national-security leadership of the United States would communicate on Signal about imminent war plans,” he wrote.
