Attempted carjacking of former Matlildas star occurs live on air
Former Matilda Elissia Carnavas has escaped from an attempted carjacking while she was completing an interview on SEN Radio’s The Global Game.
Carnavarus suddenly started screaming mid-interview before the line dropped, leaving radio hosts Simon Hill and Alex Brosque shocked as to what was unfolding.
Queensland Police said five men approached Carnavarus’s car, with one male holding a knife and yelling at her.
When the men were unable to gain entry to the car due to it being locked, they fled the scene.

Australia have defeated Japan 71-54 to surge through to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup quarter finals top of their group and on a four-game winning streak.
After a tight first half that saw the Aussies claim a slender two-point lead, a dominant third quarter saw the margin extend to 13 at the last change and the Opals held on for a comfortable win.
Serbia’s defeat of France allowed Australia to overtake the French and finish Group B on top.
The tournament hosts will face Belgium in their first knockout match of the World Cup on Thursday.
Georgie Prespakis cops two-match ban
Geelong young gun Georgie Prespakis failed to overturn her two-match suspension for a dangerous tackle at the tribunal last night.
The second-pick from the 2021 AFL Women’s Draft had her rough conduct ban upheld, with the jury determining her actions were unreasonable in the circumstances given the higher level of force at the end of the tackle.
The tackle left St Kilda ruckman Erin McKinnon concussed and she is likely to miss the next few weeks.
Earlier in the evening, another dangerous tackle charge was upheld with Essendon forward Daria Bannister to miss the Bombers’ next match against Brisbane this weekend.

It’s the 29-year-old’s third best and fairest win, after taking out back-to-back club champion awards at Gold Coast in 2015 and 2016.
