A 65-year-old woman suffered a fatal gunshot wound as a result of a drive-by shooting in Sydney’s South-West on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the home on Dickens Road, Ambarvale, at around 11pm.
Police were responding to reports that a woman had been shot in the leg. Despite both NSW paramedics and officers’ attempts to treat the woman’s wound, she died at the scene.
Two other people were present in the home at the time, a 34-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, but both were found to be uninjured.
NSW Police reported that an unidentified vehicle fired several times at the home before fleeing the scene, where officers arrived shortly thereafter.
State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have been contacted and are investigating the incident alongside police with the initiation of Strike Force Apslawn.
