Young girl killed by reversing car

The tragedy happened after family function in Hallam.

A two-year-old girl was killed by a reversing car on Sunday in Melbourne’s southeast.

The family of the child was leaving from a function when the little girl was struck by a car on Arrino Crescent, Hallam at around 5pm.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. However, it has been confirmed that the little girl had run out behind the reversing vehicle before she was hit. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene.

Emergency services arrived at the scene but they could not save the child.

A neighbour named Angela told the Herald Sun that the incident worried the neighbourhood.

“It is shocking. The family had a function at the house and were on their way home,” Angela said.

Investigations are still underway and the police have not yet confirmed if any charges will be laid.
