Explainer: La Trobe Student Union

Student unions are an important part of campus life, but do you know how they work and what they do?

La Trobe University’s Student Union is the purple-eagled symbol of student advocacy and support.

They are most known for being active around campus during O-week, for organising volunteer initiatives and providing a voice for students.

But how did they come about? What do they do for students? This week, Kim from The Ag researched the history of the union and spoke to current President Nick Goodyer about how it operates.
