Magnify Melbourne selected for LA WebFest

La Trobe University students to appear in 8th annual LA WebFest

Magnify Melbourne has been selected to be shown at the LA Webfest as well as the Asia Web Awards this year.

All nine videos selected for season three of Magnify Melbourne can be seen in the playlist below.

“Harriet” and “Randa” were selected for entry in the LA WebFest, that will take place on April 28-30 at Sony Studios in Hollywood in April.

Randa Rafiq is a wife, a mother, student, volunteer, legal education coordinator and Muslim.
In this documentary, Randa tells of her struggles of living as a Muslim woman in Australia. She explains the pain and hardships she is still continuing to overcome owing to her faith, wearing the Hajib and what effects it has had on her and her family.

Harriet Blain’s early life wasn’t easy – in and out of foster care as a result of her parent’s substance abuse issues. However, through kickboxing she has found both a passion and a pathway for change.

Magnify Melbourne’s “Samara” was featured on ABC iView’s “Grad Season” earlier this year.

Grad Season is an exclusive showcase, run by the ABC of the best original short film projects created by recently graduated Australian film school students.

Magnify Melbourne will be hoping to build on a successful 2016 in which it won awards at the LA WebFest and Austin WebFest and was nominated at the KWebFest, Miami Webfest and Webfest Montreal.
