Man falls to his death at Oasis concert

A man in his 40s has died from "injuries consistent with a fall", according to police.

A man fell to his death during the  Oasis concert at London’s Wembley Stadium Saturday night.

The man was believed to be sitting in the upper level of the 90,000-seat stadium and was pronounced dead at the scene for “injuries consistent with a fall”.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated that officers on duty responded to reports of an injured person at the stadium around 10:19pm.

“The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage, ” a spokesperson said.

Police have urged anyone who has any information involving the incident to get in touch.

In a statement online, the legendary Brit-pop band’s offered their “sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved”, and dedicated popular song Live Forever to “all the people who can’t be here tonight”, during their Sunday night gig.

Wembley Stadium released a statement following the incident.

“Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers,” it said.

The band will continue to play in Scotland, Ireland, The United States and Canada, before coming back to Wembley Stadium in September.

The reunion tour began in July, sixteen years after the band’s 2009 split.
