Noble Park cafe set alight by arsonists

A staff member and two customers had to flee the building before it was set ablaze.

Three people have managed to escape a café in southeast Melbourne after it was firebombed by two arsonists last night.

The two arsonists entered inside the Arabian Lounge & Café in Noble Park building and set it alight at 11.40pm.

Two customers and a staff member were able escape before the fire started.

The blaze was triggered with an accelerant which the perpetrators had brought into the building.

Emergency fire services rushed to the scene following several reports of a fire, arriving by 11.52pm.

“Crews worked quickly to battle the blaze, the scene deemed under control at 12.13am,” Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman told NewsWire.

There has been a significant amount of damage to the building.

An investigation has been launched into the fire and the identity of both the offenders who fled the scene.

Police are urging anyone who has any information about the incident or who witnessed it, to come forwards and contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
