Rolling Stones announce their new album

This is their first album since 2005.

The Rolling Stones have unveiled their first album in 18 years titled, Hackney Diamonds.

Set to release on 20 October this year, the album will include 12 tracks, with features from Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

This marks the first album without their drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021 of throat cancer just before taking off on their 60 year anniversary tour. Of the 12 tracks, 10 songs will see Steve Jordan playing drums in Watt’s place, while the other two were pre-recorded with the original drummer.

Lead singer Sir Mick Jagger said in a conversation with Jimmy Fallon that the album came together with careful deliberation.

“I don’t want to be big headed but we wouldn’t have put this album out if we hadn’t really liked it. We said we had to make a record we really love ourselves,” he said.

“We are quite pleased with it, we are not big headed about it, but we hope you all like it”.

Hackney Diamonds marks the bands 24th British and 26th American studio album. In August 2022, they finished their ‘SIXTY’ European tour and are rumoured to jet off on another tour with their latest album, although dates have not been confirmed.
