Socceroos defender Lucas Herrington has finalised a move to the newly promoted English Premier League (EPL) club Hull City.

The 18-year-old joins the club on a five-year contract moving from Major League Soccer team Colorado Rapids for an undisclosed transfer fee on Thursday.

According to Football360, the deal is reportedly worth AUD$33 million which makes him the most expensive Australian football player of all time.

Herrington attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest football clubs after an impressive World Cup campaign for the Socceroos earlier this year. He becomes the only Australian to play in the EPL for the upcoming season.

“I’m buzzing to be here,” he said. “It’s a great project and a great club to be a part of. I’m so excited to be here.”

“I’m here to work hard and hopefully get a lot of games in the Premier League.”

Herrington joins several other Socceroo teammates that have secured transfers post World Cup, which includes Nestory Irankunda and Patrick Beach.

Hull City will start its new EPL campaign against Manchester United on August 22.
