“Banyule Council has a mandate to support both small and large businesses in Banyule, from retail to manufacturing, with the aim of increasing local employment opportunities, local access to goods and services, and boosting the Banyule economy more generally.
Rosanna is not the only centre in Banyule or Melbourne where small supermarkets co-exist successfully with smaller businesses.
The land at 44 Turnham Avenue is zoned for commercial purposes.
Overall, there is change taking place within the Rosanna activity centre, including the removal of the level crossing on Lower Plenty Road, the duplication of the rail line between Heidelberg and Rosanna, and a new station at Rosanna. Council is working to get the best possible urban design outcomes for the area to ensure that the shopping centre, with the majority of businesses on the other side of the rail line to the proposed Woolworths, continues to serve its role as a neighbourhood activity centre within the local community. This involves Council supporting a diverse range of businesses, including new businesses whether small or large.”
