Popstar Taylor Swift and NFL tight end Travis Kelce have announced their engagement after two years of dating.
The shared Instagram post showed the pair together in a garden setting with the new ring on full display. Swift and Kelce captioned the post “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married”.
The two started dating in 2023, which was a busy year for both Kelce and Swift. Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, and Taylor Swift was on her record-breaking Eras Tour.
The pair had attracted massive attention recently after Swift appeared on Kelce’s podcast “New Heights”, which he co-hosts with his brother and former NFL player Jason Kelce. During the podcast, Swift announced the release of her 12th studio album “The Life of a Showgirl”, which is expected to be released on 3 October 2025. Guinness World Records announced yesterday that the podcast episode broke the record for the most concurrent views on YouTube, where 1.3 million people watched the episode live.
During the podcast, the two told the story of how they first met. Kelce spoke about his affection towards her and his desire to meet her after he attended one of Swift’s shows, where he attempted to give her his phone number.
The official NFL Instagram page has made multiple posts congratulating the pair on their engagement.
US President Donald Trump was asked his thoughts on the news.
“Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” he said. “He’s a great player. I think he’s a great guy. I think she’s a terrific person.”
Google have celebrated the news by having confetti appear on the screen when fans type in Taylor Swift. 90.6 million Google users have liked the news with their accounts.
This is the first time either of the 35-year-olds has been engaged.
