Three Sydney men arrested over alleged planned public shooting

The police found a loaded gun at a home in Willmot after the arrests took place at 12:05 am.

NSW police have arrested three men and seized a loaded gun after an investigation uncovered plans for a public shooting in Sydney’s inner west.

The arrest happened after police from Strike Force Raptor conducted a stop on a black Kia Cerato in Blacktown in Blacktown. The police initially fired bean bag rounds into the vehicle to stop it before they arrested the 22-year-old male driver and the 17-year-old male passenger.

The NSW Police said that the driver was treated by an ambulance after being allegedly bitten by a police dog. He was then transported to Blacktown Hospital, where he is still being treated and is under police guard.

The teenager was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he remains in custody for further questioning.

At around the same time as the Blacktown arrests, NSW detectives also stopped a Volkswagen T-Cross travelling through Carlton Street in Granville. The 36-year-old driver was then arrested without incident and was taken to Granville Police Station.

After the arrests, the police obtained a search warrant and allegedly seized a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver from a home on Roebuck Avenue in Willmot.

The investigations are ongoing.
