The UK, France and Canada have threatened to take action against Israel if they do not cease military offensive in Gaza and lift aid restrictions.
In a joint statement released by the UK government Israel was threatened with “targeted sanctions” if the blockade on Gaza is not lifted and the violence does not end.
“The Israeli Government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching Humanitarian Law,” it read.
The statement coincided with another joint statement from 22 different countries demanding Israel to “allow a full resumption of aid into Gaza.”
On Monday Israel responded by lifting the aid blockade that started on 2 March, allowing a limited number of supply trucks into the Gaza Strip.
The demands from the UK, France and Canada were in response to a ground offensive Israel launched on Gaza over the weekend. The ground offensive followed intensive airstrikes days prior that killed more than 100 people overnight.
According to Al Jazeera’s live news updates on the Northern part of Gaza, the Indonesian Hospital has been taken over by the Israeli military, with no patients allowing to enter or exit. Two other hospitals have been bombed and are not able to provide proper care. The Nassar Medical Complex has suffered extreme bombing in the last few days.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded on X.
“This is a war of civilisation over barbarism. Israel will continue to defend itself by just means until total victory is achieved,” he wrote.
