Alleged gangland boss Fadi Haddara shot in Melbourne’s inner west

Haddara, who is allegedly the leader of a namesake crime clan, was shot in his driveway around 8pm Sunday night

Alleged gangland boss Fadi Haddara has been left fighting for his life after being shot outside his home.

The 48-year-old was seated in a car in the driveway of his Altona North home on Marigold Avenue when he was shot.

Neighbours, who requested not to be identified, told The Age they heard multiple gunshots around 8pm Sunday night. Emergency services were called and Haddara was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“At this stage the incident is believed to be targeted,” a spokeswoman said.

Haddara is allegedly the leader of his namesake family crime clan, who have been suspected to be involved in Victoria’s illicit tobacco trade.

The clan have been known to be rivals with organised crime kingpin Kazem Hamad and his syndicate the 313, also known as The Commission. Back in July this year Hamad was sentenced to life in prison in Iraq after being convicted on drug trafficking charges.

Multiple gun possession and handling stolen goods charges were dropped against Fadi Haddara last year.

In 2009, Haddara’s brother was killed in a drive by shooting only hundreds of metres away from where this incident took place.

Police have remained at the scene of the shooting overnight, as investigations continued until early Monday morning .
