The Australian Press Council is seeking an applicant with a background in media or law to fill a new Director of Standards position.

The Australian Press Council is looking to appoint a Director of Standards to work in its Sydney office.

It is seeking an innovative and energetic person who has a high level of analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and experience in planning and implementing consultative processes.

The APC has important responsibilities to maintain and improve standards of reporting in the print media, and related websites, throughout Australia, and to protect and reinforce journalists’ access to information. The Director of Standards will implement initiatives to strengthen the development, dissemination and monitoring of its standards and its processes for complaint handling.

The ideal applicant will have a background in media or law.
