Become a ninemsn cadet

Australia's largest online content publisher, ninemsn, is looking for a cadet.

As a cadet in the ninemsn news team you will gain experience in every aspect of digital news production.

You will chase breaking stories, produce videos and create galleries as well as gain knowledge in sport, finance, current affairs and of course news, with Australia’s best-known and largest online publisher.

Your day may start as early as 5am or run late into the night. Site production duties involve sourcing and cutting photos, creating photo galleries, cutting and uploading video and writing headlines and abstracts.

Senior journalists will help you find and produce original stories to tight deadlines. You will work with the ninemsn news team at the Nine Network Sydney office in Willoughby, where you will gain an understanding of the television news environment and how it relates to the website.

You are probably a university graduate who can demonstrate a keen interest in news. You will already have some work experience – published work will be highly regarded – and you have a demonstrable passion for news, particularly online news. A working knowledge of social media is also an advantage.

You will need to be prepared to do shift work, starting late or early and on weekends, as demanded by a variable working roster.

This is a role for an ambitious person who wants to forge a career in journalism with a small team that punches above its weight.
