American country music legend and humanitarian Dolly Parton has died early this morning.
Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced her passing on behalf of her family and team in a social media post uploaded to Parton’s account.
“As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now,” he said.
“It is an honour, an honour that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly.”

In a statement to People, the singer’s team confirmed that her death followed a “brief battle with cancer.” The type of cancer she suffered from was not revealed.
Tributes for the musician continue to flood social media from celebrities and friends, including singer and actress Miley Cyrus, who was also Parton’s goddaughter.

Music collaborator Sabrina Carpenter also shared a heartwarming message for Parton in an Instagram post.
“The only thing I could say after we first met was “she really is an angel walking the earth,” she wrote.
“There will never be another you and how lucky are we all to have experienced your singular magic as well as your once in a lifetime voice, songs, and heart.”
ABC Country will be paying homage to Parton by playing her tracks all day long on their station.
