Woolworths’ sales skyrocket after Ooshie collectibles campaign

Pay increase is expected for 18 and 19-year-olds after Ooshies campaign has significant impact on sales success.

Woolworths have announced a major growth in sales, crediting the success to the Disney Ooshies collectibles program.

The report found a 3.6% increase in group sales, bringing revenue sales for 2026 up to $71.5 billion dollars.

The company reported a 7.6 percent increase in sales for the first week of the supermarket’s 2027 financial year.

Heba Baghdadi, a 19-year-old Woolworths team member, described how invested customers were in the Ooshies campaign.

“The Ooshies program has been absolutely chaotic,” she told upstart. “We had so many customers demand more despite the promotion being over.”

CEO of Woolworths Group Amanda Bardwell emphasised how the sales success of the 2027 financial year so far has been a continuation from the previous year’s sale performance.

“It has been a pleasing start to the year in Australian Food with a continuation of the momentum… driven primarily by item growth and supported by the strong performance of the Disney Ooshies collectibles program,” Bardwell said.

Meanwhile, Bardwell highlighted how “wage growth is also expected to remain elevated” after a 4.75 percent increase to wages for 18 and 19-year-old retail workers.

Baghdadi said the expected pay increase feels “rewarding” and “incredibly motivational” showing an upside for those at the centre of the ooshie frenzy.
