Editorial traineeships at The Sydney Morning Herald

Applications are now open for The Sydney Morning Herald's editorial traineeships, which will begin later this year. Applications close on 27 June 2011.

Applications are now open for The Sydney Morning Herald’s one-year editorial traineeships. The traineeship program will begin later this year.

Applications are invited from graduates, final-year university students, junior journalists and school leavers with a Tertiary Entrance Rank of 90 or above. Ideally, applicants should have a portfolio of published or broadcast work that demonstrates creative thinking, a passion for finding stories, and a compelling ability to tell these stories.

Applicants should also have an inquiring mind, good communication skills, enthusiasm and a hunger for news and current affairs.

Desirable attributes include the ability to conduct online research, an active social media presence and multimedia production skills.

Applications are accepted online. If you wish to apply, you must complete the online application form on the Fairfax Careers Website and attach the following: a cover letter addressing the selection criteria, a 90-second video about yourself, a brief CV, and a 500-word piece on ‘Why you want to be a journalist’.

Applications close on 27 June 2011 at 9.00am.
