Are you 26 years or under? Think you’ve got what it takes to be the 2011 Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year? Are you a freelance or full-time journalist who has had work published or broadcast through an Australian media outlet?
Then hurry because time’s running out to get your entry in for the Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards.
The competition, organised by the Walkley Foundation, has been running since 2008 and acknowledges the work of young individuals in the media.
The awards cover five categories of journalism – print, radio, television, online and photography – and each category winner will be selected from a shortlist of three. Out of the five winners, one will be chosen as the Walkley Young Journalist of the Year 2011.
The overall prize up for grabs is a trip to visit media organisations in either London or New York and the Walkley Young Australian Photographer of the Year prize includes a Nikon camera and a lens for high-quality photos.
Entries are open to all Australian journalists aged 26 years or under, and work must have been published between 20 March 2010 and 18 March 2011.
Details on how to enter can be found on the awards’ website. Entries must be submitted by 5pm this Friday, 18 March 2011, and winners will be announced at a ceremony in Sydney on Wednesday 22 June 2011.
