Free membership of the journalists’ union

Are you a final-year journalism student in 2010? If so, you can join the journalists' union for free while completing your degree.

Final-year journalism students from all Australian universities can join the journalist section of the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (Media Alliance or MEAA) for free. The only requirement is that final-year students to tell the MEAA where they are studying.

As a member of the Media Alliance you receive a membership card (entitling you to numerous benefits and discounts), copies of The Walkley Magazine – Inside the Australian Media, voting rights in Media Alliance elections, access to Alliance and Walkley Foundation events (often with a member discount) – including the popular Future of Journalism seminars – and other Media Alliance-run conferences, You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in Media Alliance campaigns. You can join online at www.alliance.org.au or call the membership hotline on 1300 65 65 13.
