This afternoon, La Trobe University welcomes Melbourne writer Anna Krien as a guest lecturer in the Journalism Research class.

This afternoon, Melbourne writer Anna Krien will be giving a guest lecture at La Trobe University as part of the Journalism Research class.

Krien is one of the most exciting young print journalists in Australia today. She is the author of Into the Woods: The battle for Tasmania’s forests (Black Inc, 2010), a passionate work of immersion journalism that delves into the complexities of the debate over logging in Tasmania. The book began life as a long feature article in The Big Issue.

Krien also writes essays, feature articles, poems and short stories. Some of her recent published works include ‘Out of Bounds: Sex and the AFL’ (The Monthly, April 2011) and ‘Diego on my mind’ (The Big Issue, no. 380). Krien is also a guest essayist in Voracious: Best new Australian food writing (Hardie Grant, 2011).

More examples of Krien’s work can be found on her website.

All La Trobe students and staff are welcome to attend the lecture, which will be held at 4pm this afternoon in HU-ED Lecture Theatre. There will be plenty of time for questions.
