Mike Dobbie to guest lecture today

At noon today, the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance's Mike Dobbie will join La Trobe's Writing for Media class to discuss journalism ethics on the job. All welcome.

Today at noon, Mike Dobbie will guest lecture on the topic of journalism ethics on the job for La Trobe’s Writing for Media class.

Mike has extensive experience in the media – starting at BRW Magazine as a section editor in Melbourne. He  now works at the journalists’ trade union and professional association, the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance where he edits publications and is involved in campaigns promoting quality journalism.

Mike also provides training for journalists in the Asia-Pacific region through the International Federation of Journalists – this includes workshops in  journalist safety, ethical journalism, public service journalism, HIV/AIDS reporting, and trade union management and leadership in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Cambodia, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Taiwan.

In December 2009 Mike led the International Federation of Journalists mission to the Philippines investigating the Ampatuan Town massacre that killed 58 people including 32 media personnel.

All students and staff are welcome to attend Monday’s lecture.
