Newspaper job for upstart journalist

Our own Matthew Dixon has been offered a full-time journalist position with the Kalgoorlie Miner.

It’s with great pleasure that we announce that Matthew Dixon, who is a current member of upstart‘s editorial team, has landed a full-time job with the Kalgoorlie Miner in Western Australia.

Matt, who is just weeks away from completing his Bachelor of Journalism degree at La Trobe University, will commence work at the end of the month.

Matt has done a variety of writing during his time as an undergraduate student, both for upstart and the Columbia Missourian, where he worked during his one-year study abroad program at the University of Missouri.

Check out Matt’s pieces on helping friends who are contemplating suicide and his coverage of a fatal shooting in East Columbia.

Matt also recently wrote an excellent piece for upstart on how to stand out in the journalism graduate crowd.  Something, if we can say, he’s done quite well.

Congratulations Matt.  We wish you all the best of luck.
